ASSIST Cooking Event #2

What a great evening! It’s Saturday night in the spacious kitchen of the Ulm Family Education Centre. It smells delicious and tempting. The potatoes are steaming away in the steamers and the veg meat is roasting in the oven. Young women and men are cutting vegetables and kneading dough. We’re in the middle of the second ASSIST cooking event and we’re taking a look inside some of the pots. Sixteen international students are cooking and baking their favorite dishes from home. We’ve got Bulgarian banitsa (sheep’s cheese in flaky pastry) and Indian pakoras (dumplings with onion vegetables) as starters, with a German-style green salad on the side. We’ve got Chinese pork knuckle (braised in colourful vegetables) and Kolkata beef biryani with potato curry and yoghurt as main courses. The delicious dinner is rounded off with a dessert consisting of cheesecake and Russian chak chak (deep-fried dough balls with syrup and raisins). Everything tasted wonderful and cooking was great fun. Many thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to our great dinner!

The cooking event was organized by ASSIST Senior Consultants Sabine, Gudrun, Petra and Erla.
