Bonfires chase away winter

ASSIST Group live on site

Shortly before sunset, our group of four students and two ASSIST members, along with one guest, arrived at the designated bonfire location in Blaubeuren-Gerhausen. We were greeted by the catchy rhythms of a marching band. There was still enough light to enjoy the beautiful location on the banks of the river. Then, the huge pile of old Christmas trees was set alight. With a little help from the fire brigade, the entire pile was soon engulfed in flames. Thick smoke rose and sparks flew up into the night sky. It was a marvellous sight! It was hard to tear ourselves away from the cosy warmth that soon spread. On the journey home, we were able to catch another glimpse of the fire from the train.
